Dr. Walter Liao
Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon, certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, with further training in Asian eyelid surgery in Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
Dr. Walter Liao is a certified eye physician and surgeon (ophthalmologist) who specializes in cosmetic eyelid surgery. He is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. At Claye he also performs cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange.
He earned his medical degree at the University of Western Ontario, completed a fellowship in ophthalmic pathology at the University of Ottawa, then a five year ophthalmology residency at Queen's University. He went on to specialize in Asian eyelid surgery in Korea, Taiwan and Japan, which gives him a deeper understanding of Asian eyelid anatomy.
He still travels to Asia for conferences and meetings, and to learn new techniques from surgeons there. Patients can stay in Canada, with its high regulatory standards, and still have up to date surgical techniques.
A Toronto native, Dr. Liao does every pre surgical consultation himself. He listens to what you want and what worries you, plans around the shape of your own eyes, and offers a consultation with no obligation and no pressure.
